Confessions of Collector: How I'm Curating my Shelves

Styling a home is personal—a reflection of where you’ve been, what you love, and how you live. As I’ve designed our home over the past year, I’ve slowly collected vintage and antique pieces to create vignettes that feel intentional and lived-in. After selling our last home fully furnished (and leaving behind my beloved design books), I’ve been curating a new collection throughout the house—leaning into fashion, art, and architecture, with a little rock ’n’ roll in the mix.

While books anchor most of my shelves, my jade onyx obsession (can’t.stop.won’t.stop) has made its way into nearly every room. Kelly, my neighbor and best friend, has been my enabler in the best way. I love how polished marble plays against rich textures and warm woods—an interplay of old and new that makes a space feel layered and alive. My palette always leans toward earthy neutrals and moody jewel tones, with aged brass adding just the right patina.

From the glass cabinets in our kitchen to the built-ins in my office, I love a contrast—modern and antique, sculptural and organic, pieces with stories and those still waiting to collect their own.  I’ll forever be hunting for the next great vintage find, but I also love the accessibility of beautiful, affordable pieces that complement those one-of-a-kind treasures. Kelly has the best eye for sourcing (seriously would not be getting through this home project without her!) and I've turned her into a night owl with our wine-fueled late night design sessions after the kids go down to bed.

My home is always evolving, and that’s what I love most. Because the best spaces, like life itself, are ever-changing, deeply personal, and filled with stories waiting to be told.
